Jack’s Winning Words 7/8/21
“Adapt or perish…now as ever, is nature’s inexorable
imperative.” (H.G.
Wells) If you know Wells, you know of his interest in science fiction.
particularly when it comes to predicting the future….but, as is often the case,
you need a dictionary nearby as you read his work (inexorable imperative,
for example – “things needing immediate attention come at us
relentlessly”). It happened during the pandemic. Churches learned a
new word: Zoom! Online shopping (virtually) replaced malls. Wells’
solution (adapt or perish) was put into practice. Can you think of other
examples of the value of adaptation? ;-) Jack
