 Jack’s Winning Words 7/2/21

“My dream is of a place and a time where America will once again be seen as the last best hope of earth.”  (A. Lincoln)  There are the Boomers, the X-ers, the Ys and the Zs.  Then, there’s the Greatest Generation, known for its patriotism and value of hard work.  I don’t know if there were generation names in Lincoln’s day, but he does seem to fit the “Greatest” mold.  Don’t call the Patriots a political group.  They’re the ones who know that the 4th of July is more than fireworks.  ;-)  Jack

FROM FACEBOOK LIZ:  (Picture of Betsy Ross version of the American Flag)===JACK:  I grew up in a day when we learned the poem: "Hats off. the flag is passing by."  I find myself living in conflicted times.  I know that you don't like the word, racism, but it is prevalent.  People ARE being treated "differently because of their color, because of the money they have (or don't have).  Turning from the flag may be one type of protest.  Burning the flag may be another.  I try to understand all sides, but it gives me a headache...no, a heartache.

FROM CCS:  Great post this morning! Thank you for speaking this truth. ❤===JACK: Lincoln never told a lie.  WAIT...That was George Washington.  Whatever...It's TRUE that America, with all its faults, is still a great country.===JACK:  Calvin  Coolidge was the only US President to be born on the 4th of July. Thomas Jefferson, John Adams and James Monroe each died on the 4th.

F️ROM DR J:  Love this! Happy Fourth of July and enjoy the weekend surrounded by family and love. thinking about all of you, Jodi ===JACK:  Malia Obama's birthday Is July 4..===J:  Going out on the boat with friends to see the fireworks tomorrow night. From the river. It’s a great view and not so crowded;-) life is good !===JACK:  POPcorn is good to serve during the fireworks.  Also POPsickles and POPtarts.

FROM WILLMAR REV:  Yes, Sir!! 0;-) ===JACK:  Does your church display the American flag in its worship area.  Sometimes there are differences of opinion as to displaying secular items in church.  (How about Christmas trees?)  Some compromise by having the flag at the entrance to the nave (worship area).===REV:  Sunday we Celebrate America, flag and all with the song celebrating our armed forces and those who served with them standing during there tribute song. I’m not sure because I haven’t looked of late, but we have had both American and Christian flags posted in the sanctuary for many years.

FROM ST PAUL IN ST PAUL:  well stated,  Jack.  light a firecracker in my honor:):):)===JACK:  How about a sparkler.? I'll wave it in the shape of your name.
