Jack’s Winning Words 4/18/22
“All changes, even the most longed for, have their melancholy, for
what we leave behind us is a part of ourselves.” (Anatole
France) Are you familiar with song, Melancholy Baby? Ella
Fitzgerald has a good rendition. A melancholic mood is a mood, a kind
of sadness over what has happened, over what might have been. Maybe
this sounds strange, but I can imagine Jesus singing that song to me, with
the lyrics “Every cloud must have a silver lining.” Yes, there are
those “rainy days” for each of us, with unexpected changes, but the song
advises us to “Look for the silver lining!” We have a God who knows,
understands and who cares. So, smile and let the sun come shining
through. ;-) Jack.
FROM BLAZING OAKS: Right! Each new day is a gift. ===JACK: I don't know if it fits, or not. When we were in Sunday School, and it was our birthday, we'd bring pennies indicating how old we were. There was a plastic cake in front with a slot in the top. When the coins were put in the slot and a fake candle would light as everyone counted the years. Then, everyone would sing: Jesus bids us shine, With a clear, pure light, Like a little candle burning in the night; In this world of darkness, we must shine, You in your small corner, And I in mine.
