Jack’s Winning Words  3/4/20
“I have a feeling that inside you somewhere there’s a somebody nobody knows about.”  (Alfred Hitchcock)  It’s my observation that if you run for a political office, people are going to read about the somebody nobody knows about.  We all have skeletons rattling about in our closets.  The amazing thing is that God knows all about us (and our skeletons) and loves us just the same.  I like this Hitchcock quote, and I like his movies, too, especially, The Birds.  ;-)  Jack

FROM WILLMAR REV:  Interesting scenario back here in Minnesota...a gentleman originally from here whom I met while pastoring in WI (1994-1997) had stabbed and killed his once engaged fiancée and survived his plunging onto a knife while falling headfirst down a set of stairs leading to a basement. He again, survives. pleads guilty to second degree murder, spends just under 20 years in prison for the young lady's death, is sued and found guilty in a civil court (with 20% of what he makes for a lifetime seemingly going to pay off the suit) and when getting out of prison (5-6 years ago) moves back home to Willmar, MN where I too have moved back and resumed pastoral ministry on the local AG staff. We have remained friends but somewhat distant in regard to spiritual matters with his take that we make Christianity work because we believe in it and follow its beliefs. He chose not to believe in it himself.  He was received warmly by a small group of high school friends who have remained here in Willmar, found a job with cabinet building he learned while in prison, but had difficulty establishing relationships with women in the area. Dating services on-line found him discovering, walking along together for a time and then for whatever reason breaking up with three or four ladies outside his home area. This past weekend he was asked to move out from his latest relationship with a lady living in a town an hour or so away. They had been in relationship for perhaps a year, when something happened to want her to sever it and have him move out of her house. His friends came and helped him move and one offering him a place in his basement until he could find housing.
So much of the above scenario paralleled to the previous one over some twenty years ago (a skeleton in his closet perhaps). I was told yesterday he drove out on a deserted road where he took his own life, leaving a few written letters before doing so. I've been asked to officiate his funeral towards the end of March. I will share more as the account continues to unfold. 0:-/===JACK:  Ministers who are true pastors have some interesting tales to remember.
