Jack’s Winning Words 4/8/20
“Intelligence without ambition is like a bird without wings.” (Salvador Dali) Dali makes a point with his quote…however, I saw a video this week of a boy, born without arms. He’s able to play a trombone, throw a Frisbee, drive a car and use a computer. He’s able to do all of this, because he has intelligence and ambition. A teacher once told me, “You can do better.” I knew I could; what was lacking was ambition. “You can be better than you are!” goes the old song. ;-) Jack FROM TRIHARDER: So true! Although Dali probably painted birds without wings. ===JACK: Saw the movie, "On the basis of sex," last night...the story of the early days of Ruth Bader Ginsburg and her influence on the world today. We see her so often dressed in "today's clothes," not knowing what she was like in her younger life. Maybe there should be a movie about you (and me) in our younger life.===TH: My movie would be "Wild Thing" I was a good kid who liked to do marginally crazy (but not criminal) things -- i used to hitchhike all over the city as a 12 year old just to see the different parts of the city. We used to climb in newly built or abandoned buildings. As an 18 year old, I hitchhiked to Florida because I couldn't afford transportation.===JACK: Both you and I seem to have lacked (babe) Ruth's drive. I'm distressed at how the recent Supreme Court appointees have measured about some of the best in the past. Whatever happened to the "3 branches of government?" FROM FACEBOOK LIZ: i like when you give hints as to your mischievous times as a lad... happy easter!===JACK: I could write a book...like when I put a tack on the chair of the math teacher when he wasn't looking. FROM PROUD MARY: yes...i'm still here reading and being thankful everyday for the winning words. today i think i'll go "swingin' on a star"!===JACK: A Winning Words' friend (Norm) is lighting his his Christmas Star this at Eastertime to show "the reason for the season." He, too, is swingin'! FROM GOOD DEBT JON: Or voltage without amps===JACK: Big smoke, but no fire. |
