 Jack’s Winning Words 12/20/22

“Every parting gives a foretaste of death, every reunion a hint of the resurrection.”  (Arthur Schopenhauer)  The largest family reunion was held in France with 4,514 attendees.  Who brought the potato salad?  Our family has a reunion every 5 years…printed T-shirts one year; a family cookbook another; a fridge-magnet, too.  For those who are believers in an afterlife, the sting of death can be eased by imagining the reunion to come.  Will we need name tags?   ;-)  Jack

Jack and his Winning Words will be deeply missed. What a gift he has left with us! I will revisit these from time to time, and will retell some of my favorite stories. So full of HUMOR, Intellect, Kindess, and Compasssion. He made me laugh, he made me THINK... and he helped me see my self-worth. Memory Eternal my friend.

I had an inkling these last few days reading Jack's Winning Words that he knew something he wasn't sharing with the rest of us. That his life might be coming to a close and that he was ready to leave this world as we know it.
He has been a wonderful pastor, friend, and mentor since we met him back in Grayslake, IL at Shepherd of the Lakes. We've shared many stories about our families and childhoods through the years, but I will miss waking up to his Winning Words and getting my day started with a positive thought or two. Rest in peace my friend you so well deserve it.
Our sympathy to his family.

Sending love and condolences to the Freed family from the Fischers. Cal and Judy have been gone a number of years. Receiving Jack's Winning Words in my inbox has been a wonderful connection to their dear friend. What a wonderful gift to us all. I have fond memories of your family and visits after we moved elsewhere. Blessings and peace to all and kudos to Jack for his uplifting messages right up until the end. Warm regards, Paula Fischer
