Winning Words 10/6/11
“When Jews appear for Divine Judgment, the angels say to them, ‘Don’t be afraid. The Judge is your Father.’” (Midrash Tehillum) This Saturday is Yom Kippur when my Jewish friends “wipe the slate clean” and vow to do better in the coming year. Maybe that’s putting it too simply, but the idea is a good one. If we’re serious about changing a life pattern, set a time, and start the change. ;-) Jack

Thank you again and again and again for your WW, this one is especially comforting. May God keep you and Mary safe and we look forward to reading WW from you again when you return.

What is interesting is that in ancient times Yom Kippur was the only Jewish' feast day that the sacrifice for the atonement was provided for the people instead of requiring the people to bring the it with them. Some would say that this could be an expression for the grace of G_d later fulfilled by Jesus at Calvary. The Lord never wants us to be burdened with issues from the past while prospering in the present and preparing for a good future.
